The Coaching for Health Professions Education certificate is intended for faculty who want to develop skills in coaching health professions learners across schools and across the continuum of education. Coaching has proliferated in health professions education, and many UCSF programs have implemented or are planning coaching initiatives. Coaching learners is distinct from mentoring or advising, and different from career coaching for faculty. This certificate is designed to teach foundational coaching skills and common applications of coaching for educators. Certificate completion requires participation in the day-long in-person session, as well as an activity of participants’ choosing to apply the skills acquired.
