On Wednesday, Oct. 14, join the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and the UCSF Fein Memory and Aging Center for an evening exploring variation, creativity and innovation through the lenses of brain science, genetics and music. UCSF scientists and SFCM musicians will explore how variation can create both new possibilities and new vulnerabilities—from genetic mutations that shape evolution and disease to musical variations that transform a melody, inspire improvisation and drive music in new directions. Through short talks, musical demonstrations, conversation and live performance, the program will consider a shared question: How can unexpected change become a source of innovation? Featuring Bruce L. Miller, MD, A.W. and Mary Margaret Clausen Distinguished Professor in Neurology and director of the UCSF Edward and Pearl Fein Memory and Aging Center David H.
