An afternoon devoted entirely to the wind decet — 10-piece chamber ensembles that bring together the rich colors of woodwinds and brass in some of the repertoire's most engaging combinations. Sonaré Chamber Winds, the School of Music's student chamber wind ensemble, opens the program under the direction of Julianna Pinero with selected movements from The Bach Buch, a colleciton of J.S. Bach miniatures expertly arranged for chamber winds by Carter Pann. Ensemble ATL takes the stage under conductor Robert J. Ambrose for a program spanning over a century of wind writing: Émile Bernard's Divertissement, Op. 36, Ruth Gipps' evocative Seascape, Op. 53, and Arthur Bird's Serenade for Wind Instruments.
